China: EU warns big powers to prevent trade 'conflict and chaos'
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe European Council President Donald Tusk issued a warning to Russia, China and the US to prevent trade wars from escalating, at the 20th China-EU Summit in Beijing on Monday. "I am calling on our Chinese hosts, but also on presidents Trump and Putin, to jointly start this process from a reform of the WTO. There is still time to prevent conflict and chaos", he said. Tusk spoke at the summit alongside Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. Li said China is determined to have greater openness when it comes to trade, a sentiment which was welcomed by the EU’s Juncker who said that the EU wants to invest more in China. The European Commission Chief stressed that the two markets must reach an agreement that fulfils common goals. “Our cooperation simply makes sense. Together we account for about a third of global economy. Europe is China's largest trading partner and China is Europe's second largest trading partner", Juncker said.
